Product Overview

The ramp latches onto the top step of your rooftop tent ladder. I found that it works best by putting the ladder at a shallow angle so that your doggo can actually run up it. Otherwise, the angle is just too steep for the ramp to be usable.

When angled properly, this should provide a 45-degree angle for your pup. The ramp is available in either 7ft or 8ft lengths for compatibility with most RTT ladders.

Build Quality

It is made of very high-quality materials that should hold up the constant foot traffic. There are no loose strings, missing straps, or loose fittings. The attention to detail is awesome, such as the pawprint grip texture. The aluminum mounting surface that attaches to the ramp is more than adequate and should not ever be a failing point.

Installation

Assuming that you have a compatible ladder, all you have to do is place the ramp’s mounting bracket over the top step and secure it with the provided D-rings. You can also use bungee cords to wrap around the back of the ladder for added security. This is especially useful for larger/heavier dogs.

Attaching the ramp to your ladder requires no tools.

Step 1. Roll Out Ramp

Simply place the aluminum mounting bracket over the top step of the ladder and unclip the bungee to let the ramp unravel.

Step 2. Secure Bungee Cords (Optional)

Once unraveled, there are two bungee cords that secure the ramp to the ladder. You don’t have to use them, but it might be a good idea to if you have a larger dog. Once they are secured, the ramp won’t move, it is an extremely secure design.

Step 3. Proper Ladder Angle

If need a shallower ladder angle to make it easier on your pooch, you can put a box or tote under the bottom step.

That’s it! To stow the ramp away, just undo the bungee cords and roll it back up.

Final Thoughts

This is a well-made, thought-out, and excellently executed accessory. It does what it is supposed to do and over time, just gets easier to use.

Not all dogs will be a fan of this, and in light of that, Desert Armor accepts returns so long as the ramp is in brand-new condition. Keep in mind that with this ramp, your pet will be going from the ground straight into the tent, so be wary that their paws aren’t super dirty before sending them up. My family and I have really enjoyed this product and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make life even easier for their furry buddies.
